SMASH NEAR PAERATA

INQUIRY ENDED REPORT TO BE MADE The official inquiry into the circumstances concerning the railway smash near Paerata last Saturday morning was finished to-day. Mr. P. R. Angus, assistant mechanical engineer, and Mr. G. J. Bertinshaw, inspecting engineer, who have been holding the inquiry, will leave for Wellington this evening and will report to the general manager. In the smash 35 trucks were derailed and a considerable amount of damage was done. The question of the speed of the train at the time of the accident was one of the most important questions upon which evidence was taken during the inquiry-
