SCHOOLMASTER USES STICKS IN SELF-DEFENCE Press Association. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A case in which Henry Edward Crandle, a schoolmaster, aged 53, of Makara, was charged with assaulting an Italian, Lulu Gestro, of Makara, so as to cause him actual bodily harm, was concluded in the Police Court to-day. The magistrate held that accused struck Gestro in self-defence and he dismissed the charge. The evidence disclosed that Gestro bore a grudge against Crandle. Gestro was drunk on the day and followed Crandle, and accosted him on a lonely, dark road. Crandle, to protect himself from Gestro, used two sticks one in each hand
