They Love 13

Young Auckland Couple and Their Lucky Number AMAZING SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES If omens count for anything a young Aucklander and his bride should have met with disaster longago. But instead of dreading number 13 they eagerly pounce on anything possessing those two numerals. At present they are in search of a house numbered 13, but it must contain 13 rooms. Their wedding was on June 13, after an engagement lasting 13 months. Naturally they laughed on their wedding day and crossed knives just for fun. When the invitation cards returned from the printer they found that there was a mistake on 13 of them, so they purposely spilled some salt. The taxi-driver who conveyed the happy couple from the church was number 13 and 13 telegrams of congratulation were opened at the wedding breakfast. While waiting for the train to depart on the wedding tour the bride and groom decided to weigh themselves. The bride weighed 8 stone 5 lbs, and the bridegroom 9 stone 4 lbs. That night they looked for the new moon through a window. On the homeward journey the young couple wired for reserved seats. They were given number 13.

They have tempted fate for so long that they now walk nonchalently under ladders and neither of them would care a jot if they broke a mirror.
