TROTTING IN THE RAIN Going Upsets Calculations HEAVY rain set in this morning' and continued throughout the day, making conditions very unpleasant for the final day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s winter carnival. Despite this drawback there was a fair attendance. The track was in a heavy state.

Uramic Likes It Uramic took charge two furlongs from home in the Manukau Handicap, best-backed were Harvest Child £265, Master Huia £205, Admiral £165, Uncle Bert £l5O and Uramic £123. Holiora led out of the straight from Master Huia, Peter Grattan, Red Star, Beatty and Mars. Passing the stands the second time Master Huia and Mars were together ahead of Uramic, Master Councillor, Peter Grattan, Admiral Lock, Red Star and Harvest Child. Down the back Master I-luia was just in front of Mars and Uramic, with half a dozen lengths back to Admiral Lock and Harvest Child. Uramic led into tho straight from Master Huia, Harvest Child, Mars and Admiral Lock, the leader going on to score by a length and a-half from Master Huia, with Harvest Child half a length back. Mars was a fair fourth, and then came Admiral Lock, Hohora, Red Star and Scandal. ROYAL HANDICAP Of £300; 2 miles; limit, 4.54. 6 KOLMAR (S. G. Kolmar’s Royal Handicap The pace set by the leaders in the Royal Handicap effectively settled the chances of the favourite, Raima, who failed to make up any of his handicap over the first mile. Raima was entrusted with £ 524, others claiming fair support being Callboy, £369, and Maxegin, £307. Callboy was in charge at the end of half a mile, followed by Kolmar, Etta Cole, Repute Colonel Thorpe, Sebisca, Roez, Roma Bingen, and Golden Gate. Passing the stands the next time, Kolmar Callboy, Etta Cole, Sebisca, Repute Colonel Thorpe, and Raima were in that order, with a good gap between them. Kolmar was well clear along the back, and led into the straight from Sebisca, Etta Cole, Raima, and Repute, and went on to win by two and a-half lengths from Sebisca, with Etta Cole three lengths away. Dalmeny Takes Big Event Soon after the start of the Prince
of Wales Handicap Dalmeny took charge and was never afterwards headed, being aided to victory by the mistakes of his dangerous opponents. There was som© spirited betting between Gold Jacket £BBS, Peterwah £ 545, Dalmeny £ 740, the Logan Chief-Talaro bracket £6BB, and Peter Swift £291. Loch Moigh went away quickly and led along the back, Talent, Lady Dunmoro and Gold Jacket getting up in th© first two furlongs. Passing the stands the first time Dalmeny and Native Prince were in the van from Talent, Loch Moigh, Logan Chief. Talaro, Gold Jacket and Peter Swift, and in the second circuit Gold Jacket and Native Prince both broke and w pulled up. Dalmeny was still in tiie van passing the stands the second time, with a lap to go, with Logan Chief, Peterwah, Talent, Loch Moigh, Talaro, Lady Dunmore and Imprint in that order. Down the back Peterwah was lying just behind Dalmeny and Logan Chief, the rest being out of it, but the trotter got up and had no sooner settled down than he broke again. Logan Chief broke, too, on the turn for home, leaving Dalmeny to win by two and a-half lengths from Peterwah, with six lengths back to Talaro. Two lengths away was Loch Moigli, and then in order capie Talent, Lady Dunmore, Imprint, Peter Swift, and Logan Chief. ADAMS CUP MEMORIAL HANDICAP Of £500; 2 miles; limit, 4.37. -6—TAIPARE (C. Taipare Easily Taipare revelled in the going and won the Adams Memorial easily. The fancied division comprised the Ling-field-Pageant bracket £BOS, Luvan £SBO, Jackie Audubon £513 and Bing Boy £451. Lord Nepean, Nelson Tasker, Hughie Wallace, Uncle Bert, Taipare, Luvan, Pageant and Bing Boy was the order passing the stands, and in the next circuit the field was bunched, Nelson Tasker and Uncle Bert having a slight advantage passing the stands from Luvan, Harold Thorpe, Pageant, Taipare, Gold Dial, Hughie Wallace, Jackie Audubon and Bing Boy. the last-named being very wide out. Down the back Taipare hit the front and that was the end of it, the grey turning for home eight lengths in front, of Pageant, who had got up just prior to this, but settled down again. Taipare won by three lengths from Pageant, with Nelson Tasker four lengths away third, and Uncle Bert was a good fourth. Then came Dial, Harold Thorpe and Hughie Wallace. Western King was very slow off the mark. TV/O-YEAR-OLD TROTTING CHALLENGE STAKES Of £175; 1J miles. 1— KORO PETER (Mrs. T. E. Sweetapple), b g by Peter Moko— Koroena, 2yrs, J. Shaw 1 2 FIRST WRACK (H. F. Nicoll), ch f by Wrack—Pearl Child, 2vrs, D. Warren .. .. 2 Won by two and a-half lengths. Times: 3.34 2-5, 3.35 3-5. Winner trained by J. Shaw, Ellerslie. Both got away together but First Wrack soon began to tangle and took some time to settle. Koro Peter forged ahead and at the end of three furlongs was about eight lengths in front. Coming up the straight for the first time, First Wrack overhauled him and down the back the Southerner went ahead. Three furlongs from home he was one and a-half lengths in the lead. Crossing the top Koro Peter made his run and the pair turned for home together. In the run to the judge the local representative did best to score by two and a-half lengths. Driver Fined As a result of the inquiry into the incident causing Luvan’s fall in the opening event on Saturday, J. T. Paul, driver of Hohoro, was fined £lO for careless driving. Later results will be found in the Stop Press as they come to hand.
