BATTERY CABLE

When a battery cable thimble loses its grip on the terminal post and tends to come off, trouble may result, due to the intermittent connection as the car vibrates. To overcome this, drill and tap a small hole in the centre of the post. Then lay a washer large enough to cover both post and thimble over this hole and fasten it with a screw threaded into the tapped hole. This will prevent the cable jumping off, but it can be removed by taking out the screw and slipping off the washer.
