THEFT FROM CARS

METERS AND RADIATOR CAPS Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. A detective was walking along Taranaki Street last evening when he sa«r a man take a radiator cap from an unattended motor-car. He accosted him and found in his possession three motor meters and five radiator caps. The man, William Morrison, a seaman on the Canadian Challenger, today pleaded guilty in the Police Court to theft. In reply to the magistrate, the chief detective said that Morrison would get a market for the articles, as they were very hard to identify, and the police had lots of complaints. A fine of £5 was imposed, in default one month’s imprisonment, accused to be placed on board his ship if it sails before the fine is paid.
