FULLERS’ PROPOSALS AN EMPIRE SCHEME Further corroboration of the Fuller firm’s intention to put forward “a serious challenge to the theatrical business in New Zealand,”. was given by Mr. John Fuller this morning. When he was in England recently Mr. Fuller “laid the setting,” as he describes it. for a linking up of John
Fuller and Sons with an Empire scheme, so that tho Dominion wiil get the best of theatrical productions from abroad. Sir Beniamin Fuller is to complete the arrangements and “produce the play” on his forthcoming trip to England. Mr. John Fuller came over with the Gonsalez Grand Opera Compacy, now in the South Island, and meeting with big success. He promises that Elsie Prince and her English musical comedy company will return with “Funnj’ Face,” and that other shows of tho next few months will be “Rio Rita,” with Gladys Moncrief, and “Good News,” which opened in Melbourne on Saturday, Looking over St. James Theatre this morning, Mr. John Fuller said he was satisfied that it was the best theatre of its kind in the world for the production of the smallest play or the largest grand opera. Both of the Fuller brothers will be here for the opening of the new theatre next month.
