BOWLING CLUB DANCE
A very enjoyable social and dance »-a* held in the Parish Hall on Wednesday evenincr in connection with the presentation of trophies won during the year by the members of the Papakura Bowling and Croquet Clubs. The ha l was crowded. The following trophies were presented by Mr. H. E. McEntee past president of the club. Vice-president’s trophy for first year players, won by Mr- P- Hunt, Mr. G. W. O’Connell runner-up. Handicap singles (Farmers’ Union Cup) and president’s trophy, won by Mr. Alec Hammond. Pairs, vicepresident’s cups and club trophies, winners, Messrs. T. Paton and W. Rowe. Championship singles, Chris Foote cup, won by Mr. W. Rowe, runner-up Mr. G. Boagey (club trophy). Mis Margaret Cooper, president of the Corquet Club, presented the following trophies to their winners:—Championship, Mrs. J. W. Elliott. Handicap singles, A. section. Mrs. H. E. McEntee B. section. Mrs. J. Richardson; C. section, Miss Adkins. The buttons were held by A section, Mrs. Leighton; B. section. Miss E. Bates; C section, Mrs. T. Dickey. The following contributed an excellent programme:—Dialogue, “The .Soup and the Savoury,’’ Misses. A. Dryland, C. Wood, and I. Turner; Miss K. Turner, Miss James (Avondale), Miss Phyllis Mullins (Ardmore), Mr. Basil Page. BRIDGE PARTY Mre. R. Roberts, of Remuera Road, save a delightful bridge party on Wednesday afternoon in honour of Mrs. H. 11. McPherson, of Wellington, who is spending a holiday in Auckland as .Mrs. Roberts’s guest. The drawing and dining-rooms were cosy with big fires, and bronze vases of narcissi provided attractive colour relief against the dark furnishings. Mrs. Roberts wore a smart gown of rose beige crepe faille, with appliqued motifs of lame. Mrs. McPherson brightened her gown of black mariette with a cluster of rosebuds at one shoulder. Among the guests were:—Mrs. Gibson. Mrs. Warner, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. C. Murray, Mrs. I. Taylor, Mrs. Worry 11, Mrs. H. Jones, Mrs. Ramsay, Mrs. r. Mclntosh, Mrs. Laird.
