“No Evidence of Regret”
Soccer Authorities Decline to Accept Terms of Thistle Club’s Proposal CHANCES OF RECONCILIATION REMOTE THAT there appears to be little chance of healing the breach between the Auckland Football Association and the Thistle Club under existing circumstances is indicated by the reply of the A.F.A. to the club’s proposals for a reconciliation. The governing body definitely indicates that the preliminary steps toward' a settlement as proposed by the Thistle Club are not acceptable.
The A.F.A. received under date June 19 the following letter from the act-ing-secretary of the Thistle Club: “We have much pleasure in bringing to your notice the following resolution passed at a very well-attended special general meeting held on,Monday, the 18th instant: ‘Subject to the unconditional withdrawal of the expressions of “malcontents and undesirables” by the Auckland Football
Association, steps b<g taken towards a reconciliation with the Auckland Football Association.’ Carried by a large majority.” ASSOCIATION'S REPLY To this the secretary of IJhe A.F.A.. has replied as follows, under date June 20: “I have to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 19th inst., containing the text of a resolution carried at the special general meeting called by your club. My committee fails to discern in the resolution any evidence of regret for the club’s action, and is of opinion that a reconciliation under the circumstances is impossible. So far as my association is concerned, the subject is now closed.”
