TUDOR THEATRE
OPENING ON JUNE 22 BEAUTY OF 15TH CENTURY With its 15th century oak carvings, its beautiful ornaments and perfect taste, the lounge of the new Tudor Theatre in Remuera reminds one of a magnificent old English home, mellow with the charm of age. The theatre will open on Friday, June 22, and will take its place as the most perfect of its kind in Auckland. The Tudor Theatre indicates the high standard which has been reached in the cinema world of to-day. Perfect taste, combined with every possible comfort for patrons, has been splendidly allied. It is no longer the “suburban” theatre of old, but will present first-class motion pictures, concert musical numbers and many novelties. As one enters the theatre the lofty ceiling, fashioned of oak beams and designed in accordance with the prevailing period of the 15th century, makes a deep impression. The em-
blem of the period, the “Tudor” rose, has been used in the decoration. The lounge is as charming as it is comfortable. There is a massive fireplace, cosy nooks and crannies, cobblestones in the fireplace and artistic oak carvings mounted on the panelling. The carpets and hangings are luxurious to a degree of splendour, and were specially imported from England. They give a warmth to the interior and pleasure to the eye. Nothing could be more comfortable for patrons who have a few minutes to spare while waiting for their friends. The Tudor Theatre is the first in Australia or New Zealand to instal a Brenkert F 3 effects machine, which is only one of its many distinctions. There is every modern invention in the projection room. The general manager, Mr. F. G. Mumford, states that only the best pictures will be shown, including British productions, Metro-Gold wynMayer, Paramount, and others of a similar standard. There will be numberless supporting features, including comedies, pictorials and gazettes, and an excellent orchestra will contribute the latest and best in music. Programmes will be changed on Tuesdays and Fridays. The theatre is situated in Remuera Road, nearly opposite the post office, and within easy reach of the whole of the Remuera district.
