MANUKAU YACHT CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Manukau Yacht Club last evening regretfully accepted the resignation of Mr. N. Wilson, who has been commodore for three years. The club, which was formed in 1891, has flourished from the beginning, and Mr. Wilson, during his period of control, greatly accelerated its progress. The report stated that the annual regatta was a great success and drew largo entries, a special feature being the visit of Takapuna boys and their boats. The members of the Ponsonby Cruising Club were entertained at a week-end on the harbour, and in return Ponsonby entertained Manukau members similarly on the Waitemata. The annual picnic at Waikowhai was attended by 1,000 guests. The courtesy of Bray and Co. and Captain Hudson, for the use of the transport ' Lena Gladys,” was acknowledged. The club members also left the water for one day and played the Manukau Rovers at football. In outside events the club was represented in the Lipton and Cornwell Cup races, though without success. The purchase by the club of three Takapuna b,pats will give the boys the training needed to compete for the Cornwell Cup. The question of procurtfeg? a boat harbour has been dropped on the score of expense. Next season will find better methods of starting in use, a clock face and semaphore arm having been purchased for the purpose. The balance-sheet showed an income of £ 330 and a credit balance of £ 26. An analysis of the racing results for the season was published in The Sun on Friday last.
