FAKE MOVIE STUNT DELUDES BANKERS
FINANCIER ON TOUR Right from Los Angeles, the centre of the American movie colony, is Mr. J. H. Anderson, an American tourist, who arrived in Auckland to-day by the Marama from Sydney. The movie industry has no particular appeal for Mr. Anderson. He follows the less exciting career of a banker, and in that capacity has come in close contact with many of the stars. Not even the banks are immune from the demand of enterprising directors. It is by no means unusual, he says, for a bank to be engaged after hours, and a scene photographed there. But on one occasion a bank was bitten. They staged a ‘hold-up’ there, the bankers being under the impression that it was only a movie stunt. Instead of which a band of thieves got in first, and in front of the bankers, cleared out the coin! It is only fair to say that this did not take place in Mr. Anderson's bank. Mr. Anderson has been travelling extensively in the East, and spent some time in the war zone in China. He will join the Niagara at Auckland on her return trip to America.
