SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP

CHANGES IN THE LADDER YO official pronouncement Has yet been made as to the readjustments in the championship table through the defection of the Thistle Club. The practice in previous years, when clubs have defaulted in any of the grades, has been to “wash out” all points and goals scored in any match with the defaulters. If this method obtains now the result will be that unlucky Belmont and Onehunga will each lose two points for their win over the missing Scots. The result would then be: —Ponsonby, 14; Tramways, 13; Y.M.C.A., 12; Shore, 9; Onehunga, 7; Northcote, 2; and Belmont, 1; with Shore and Northcote a postponed game to play off. This makes the ultimate destiny of the championship very open, and invests future games with great interest for players and public.
