HOOD SAVES MOTORISTS

CAR OVER BANK NEAR TITIRANGI Four motorists had a remarkable escape from serious injury yesterday afternoon. The car in which they were riding went over a high bank on the road to Titirangi, some distance from the tea kiosk. A strong hood on the car prevented the people from falling out and it withstood the shock of the final fall. The car was driven by a taxidriver named McGaffery. He had with him another young man and two women. It is thought that McGaffery was driving too near th© edge of the road and that the earth gave way. The ear catapulted down the incline but came to rest without the passengers being seriously hurt. A severe shaking and some scratches were all that they received. The car was not seriously damaged.
