ALFRED O’SHEA
ILLUSTRIOUS IRISH TENOR Famed throughout the world, Alfred O’Shea needs no introduction to the New Zealand public. His association with Melba-Williamson and Gonzales Grand Opera Companies as principal tenor, his special engagement to sing at the historic Federal capital opening before the Duke and Duchess of York, and the popularity of his gramophone records, are well known to all music lovers south of the line. Mr. O’Shea just completed a series of concert platform engagements in the capitals of the Commonwealth, where the spacious town halls were found all too small to accommodate the crowds who desired to hear him. At each of his four Auckland concerts, which are to be given in the big Town Hall, Mr. O’Shea will include a selection of the best loved excerpts from grand opera, as well as ballads and folksongs, and in addition lie will sing a number of the beautiful old Irish melodies with the wealth of feeling and heart appeal that has caused him to be compared .with John McCormack. The box plans will be opened on Thursday morning at Lewis Eady, Ltd.
