NEW PRODUCTION IN AUSTRALIA

ENGLISH COMPANY ARRIVES TO FEATURE BUSHMAN Members of the cast of a film that is to be produced in Australia by Seven Seas Productions, Ltd., arrived in Sydney from London by the Port Wellington. The company will shortly journey to North Australia, where the film will be acted. Mr. Alexander Macdonald, F.R.G.S., managing director and producer ol! the company, stated that the first production of the company, “The Unsleeping Bye,” which was completed in Papua last year, created extraordinary interest when shown in London. The story of the new film will be taken from one of Mr. Macdonald’s books, and will bo entitled “The Kingdom of Twilight.” It will depict the troubles and hardships of the Australian pioneers. “I want to prove that Australia is a land of romance,” Mr. Macdonald stated, “ and I want to feature the real Australian bushman.” It Is anticipated that the actual filming of the picture will occupy about two months.

In addition to the company a number of Australian artists will be engaged. It is expected that the company, about 20 in all, will be 75 per cent. Australian. The party will probably travel to Cairns, and from there strike inland to North Australia, using camels to cover the rougher areas. Mr. Macdonald is not unfamiliar with Australian conditions, having previously led various exploring and geological expeditions into the interior. The party included the leading lady in the cast, the Australian actress, Wendy Osborne, who had the leading role in “The Unsleeping Bye,” Norman Linehan, of Sydney, David GivenSmith, who also had experience in Papua, Jean Seton, and Lieutenant Commander Arnot, R.N., who will all take an active part in the new production, Baby Laurel, who is only four years old, will also be Included In the cast.

Mr. Macdonald is authorised by the British Screen Productions, Ltd., to arrange for the British and European distribution of any Australian-produced films which are considered worthy of a wide market.
