CONVICTED AND DISCHARGED (Special to THB SUN) WELLINGTON, Friday. “She was given the money in a sealed envelope by a neighbour who asked her to take it to a Government department in paymant for house rent. When it was found that the bill had not been paid she admitted that she had stolen it to buy food for her starving children.” This was part of the police evidence when a married woman, whose name was ordered to be suppressed, pleaded guilty to the theft of £1 ss. The woman had eight children, but had already paid back the stolen money. She was convicted and discharged.
