EMPIRE
“THE SHAMROCK AND THE ROSE” There is, perhaps, no more fertile field for comedy than New York’s strong East Side, the melting pot of many races, and the picture to be shown to-night at the Empire Theatre, “The Shamrock and the Rose,” is based on the contact of an Irish boy with a Jewish girl. Essentially a comedy, “Shamrock and the Rose” has a well-ordered plot. Attaining a gripping climax, poignant in its pathos, it veers quickly back to a happy and altogether surprising conclusion. The entire cast is splendid. “Wolf Fangs,” the second feature on the programme, is a drama of a dog and the loyalty of canine love, starring “Thunder,” the marvellous dog actor.
