£22 FOR CHARITIES The first community “sing” of th? sixth season, which was held in the Strand Theatre last Wednesday, drev a capacity house, and over £22 was collected for unendowed charities. There has been a big improvement in the lighting of the theatre. Th* new song-books, of which there is a plentiful supply, are printed in heavier type and are much easier to read than those of last year, ■which is of great importance to the numbers of elder ■ people who enjoy the weekly asocisation with the “cheer germs.”
