GRAND

“BEAU SABREUR” “Beau Sabreur,” a companion picture to “Beau Geste,” will be shown at the Grand Theatre this evening. In “Beau Sabreur,” the story concerns young Major Beaujolais, of the French Foreign Legion, played by Gar-y Cooper, who is sent by his uncle on secret service work into the Sahara. After months in the desert he comes into contact with Bacque, who is stirring up the tribesmen against the French. When the tribes revolt de Beaujolais is forced to come to the aid of a young woman, an American journalist. On three occasions Cooper saves the life of the girl, then she is given the opportunity to reciprocate, saving him from a certain death. The girl and boy go through a series of spectacular adventures, including battles with fierce Touaregs and combats with desperate tribe leaders. Although he tries hard not to love her, the boy is finally conquered, and the devotion for France and his devotion for the girl go hand in hand until the closing scene. Its oast of 1,500 is headed by Cooper, Miss Brent, Noah Beery, Joan Standing, William Powell, Mitchell Lewis, Roscoe Karns, Arnold Kent, Frank Reicher, Raoul Paoli and Oscar Smith.

The Warner picture, “If I Were Single,” featuring May McAvoy, supported by Conrad Nagel, Andre Beranger and Myrna Loy, which will shortly be released in New Zealand, was screened at the Roxy Theatre, New York.
