EXCISE SHOWS INCREASE Press Association. WELLINGTON, Thursday. The customs duties collected in New Zealand during the quarter ended March 31 amounted to £1,838,115, compared with £ 2,055,557 in the corresponding quarter of 1927. Excise duties in the same periods, 1928 and 1927 respectively, amounted to £214,556 and £139,241. The total customs duty collected in the financial year 1927-28 amounted to £7.893,025, and excise duties to £773,630. compared with £8,307,040 and £729,053 respectively in the financial year *1926-27.
