TRUSTEE OPPOSES STAMP DUTIES CLAIM
HOTEL-KEEPER’S WILL Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. The conclusion was reached to-day in the case in which the Public Trustee, as sole executor in the will of Hamilton Gilmer, appealed against certain assessments made by the Commissioner of Stamp Duties in respect to the Grand, Albert, New Commercial and Clyde Quay Hotels. The trustee objects to the assessment of £31,000 for goodwill, contending it should be set aside, as it was part of the land and buildings on which death duties amounting to £59.586 had already been paid. Mr. Justice Sim reserved judgment.
