PATENTS UPHELD
AMALGAMATED WIRELESS WINS VICTORIAN COURT DECISION The claims of Amalgamated Wireless, Australasia, Ltd., to two patents have been upheld by the Supreme Court of Victoria. This is" an 'important decision which will affect traders in New Zealand. The folowing cablegram was received from Melbourne to-day: “Amalgamated wireless patents uphold. In the Supreme Court of Victoria to-day judgment was given against the Myer Emporium, Ltd., for infringement of two patents belonging to Amalgamated Wireless, Australasia, Ltd. “The court awarded costs and damages against defendants and gave a certificate of validity in respect of both patents.” Many patents are claimed to be possessed' by Amalgamated Wireless, and the cable does not make it clear which two have been proven. Doubts had been cast on the patent rights by no less an authority than the New Zealand Government. The result of the decision will be that Amalgamated Wireless will reap the royalties on apparatus in which these two patents are embodied and which is sold in Australia and New Zealand.
