CATHOLIC CONCERT
AT OTAHUHU A successful concert was held in the Orpheus Theatre, Otahuhu, last evening, by the pupils and ex-pupils of St. Cecilia’s Convent, Otahuhu. The proceeds are to be devoted to the church funds. There was a large attendance of members and friends of the church. The first part of the evening was occupied with several solos and choruses, and items by the orchestra. The following contributed items: Miss Pliilomena Hayden; Miss Agnes Wilkinson and Master V. Vessey; elocutionary item, Miss Ivy Dillon; character song, Miss Ina Ratcliff e; fairy dance. Misses Joy McAnulty and Joan Fearnley; an exhibition of eurythmic drill was given by members of the senior class. The second portion of the programme consisted of a cantata entitled “Red Riding Hood’s Rescue,” the cast being: Red Riding Hood, Miss Madeleine Hayden; Mother, Miss Philomena Hayden; Hugh, Miss Mavis Turner; 'Wolf, Master Robin Ball; Robin, Miss Gwen McAnulty; Rose, Miss Ruby Maher. There were choruses of blue bells, buttercups and merry children. Mrs. Hayden was an excellent ac.companiste.
