He went out to post j a letter and arranged before he left to meet his wife later near the church, as they intended to visit some friends. His wife did not arrive. He returned home, but she was not there. He questioned several neighbours, but none of ; them had seen her. He reported the matter to the police. His wife had been low-spirited for some time, which he attributed to the tact that ho was out work, .
