ELECTRIC POWER PROPOSAL The proposal to instal electric power in the district is gradually taking shape. During the week-end Mr. Lancaster, of the firm of Yickerman and Lancaster, of Wellington, waited on the Hobson Electric-Power Board, and, in an informal address, pointed out the advantages the district would derive from electric power. lie gave a general description as to the usual proce- ; dure adopted by other districts with regard to obtaining the sanction of the ratepayers and other formalities. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker, the chairman and members agreeing' that much valuable advice had been given.
The Northern Wairoa Sub-Branch of the New Zealand Teachers’ Institute held its annual meeting at Dargaville. Officers elected were: President, Mr. A. E. Reynolds; vice-presi-dent, Mr. Catran; secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. Arbuckle; delegate to the Auckland Management Committee, Mr. Reynolds; executive, Messrs. Jonathan, Blake, Smith, Mrs. Prouting and Miss Downs. An interesting discussion on the new syllabus took place and it was decided to forward remits to the Auckland branch.
