FINGER BLOWN OFF

DETONATOR EXPLODES ACCIDENT TO WAIHI MINER (From Our Oxen Correspondent) WAIHI, To-day. Through the premature explosion of a detonator last evening, Mr. Frank Thornton, of Pipe Lane, Waihi, had the misfortune to lost the third finger %f his right hand. Mr. Thornton, who is a miner employed by the Waihi Gold Mining Company. was attaching the detonator to a length of fuse when the explosion occured. Besides losing one finger Mr. Thornton had two other fingers on the same hand badly shattered.
