OCCIDENTAL UNA.—The manager reports: “The crosscut on the main flinty has been advanced a .further distance of Bft. for the week, making a total of 52ft. At this point the Loyalty Reef was cut in good gold-bearing country. Only the footwall portion of the reef has been broken for a width of 18 inches. Nice dabs and colours of gold were seen in the ore. Crushing is being continued at the battedy with nine head of stampers.”

KURANUI.—The manager reports: “The crosscut from the intermediate level has been extended a further 10 feet for the week, making a total of 55 feet. The country is still of a very favourable nature, being interlaced with mineral seams and fiinties. At 52 feet we met with another leader about 6 inches wide, and the quartz broken from here looks very promising. The crosscut to intersect. the Ross Reef has been extended a further 11 feet, making a total of 21 feet. At this point the reef was met with, being a nice compact body of ore from 10 to 12 inches wide, and while breaking down the quartz to-day a few colours of gold were seen. This looks very promising, as we will have about 50 feet of driving to get under where the gold was seen in the top level.”
