HAURAKI PLAINS. The Hauraki Plains Ladies’ Hockey Association’s inter-club competition was continued on Saturday last in dull weather. At Ngatea the High School team and the Kopuarahi “A” team drew with three goals each. Misses Ethel Candy, Edna Candy and S. Hudson scored for the visitors, and Miss K. McKerchar (3) for school. Miss M. Beaver scored for Waitakaruru, the only two goals secured in the match against Ngatea ladies, and Misses A. Millar and E. Small, of the Kopuarahi “B” team were the only scorers in the match against Turua. While members of the Ngatea Hockey
Club’s executive were proceeding to an association meeting at Kopuarahi on Thursday evening, the driver of their car, Mr. J. E. Reid, president of the club, was blinded by the bright lights of an approaching car and in swerving to the roadside crashed into a telegraph pole. Mr. Keith Clare, of Ngatea, had his hand severely crushed between the car and the pole, and other passengers were severely shaken. The car was considerably damaged.
