HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT
Under date June 9, the High Commissioner for New Zealand cabled from London the following market resume: — Tallow. —No change since last report. Auctions resume next week. Apples.—Shipments bj "Devon and Westmoreland in satisfactory condition. Market quiet. Following are the prices: Statesman and Cleopatra, 13s to 14s a case; Sturmer, 12s to 14s; Jonathans and Delicious, 10s to 13s; Dunn’s Favourite, 10s 6d to 12s 6d; Premier, London Pippin and King David, 10s to 11s. Pears, Westmoreland shipment.—Winter Nelis, mostly full ripe and show waste. P. Barry in better condition, but some not sound. Prices are: Winter Nelis, 4s to 6s a tray; P. Barry, 4s to 5s for sound fruit. Hemp.—The Manila market opened steady, but. closed irregular. Business has been done in “J” grade for JuneAugust shipment at £37 10s. Output from January 1 to May 31, 574,000 bales, as against 530,000 bales in the same period last year. Stocks in Manila on Mav 31, 153.000 bales, as against 140.000 bales. Stocks in F.ngland, 21,000 bales,as against 4,000 bales at the same time last year.
Sisal. —Market unsettled and weaker. Closing values: Spot and afloat, No. 1, £35 to £35 19s; No. 2, £33 10s to £34. June-August shipments of No. 1 sold at £35 10s. New Zealand: Nothing doing. Nominal values are:—Highpoints, £3l; fair, £2S 10s; rejected, £26 10s, for JuneJuly shipment.
Wool. —The Bradford market is quiet at about last quotations. New business restricted, but holders firm.
