CARDS AND DANCING

CATHOLIC FUNCTION AT PAPAKURA

A very successful dance and card evening was held in the Paragon Theatre at Papakura last evening by the local members of the Catholic Church. Cards were played in the supper room, and dancing took place in the main hall. The winners of the euchre tournament were: Ladies, Mrs. Swindail; gents, Mr. W. Turner; consolations, Mr. Floyd and Mr. Gill. A jazzing competition was won by Mr. Reg O’Neill and Miss O’Neill. A spot waltz was won by Miss Martin and Mr. Button, and a Monte Carlo waltz by Mr. Weir and partner. During the evening Father Duffy, on behalf of the committee, thanked all for their attendance, and particularly thanked Miss McGregor, had come from Epsom to judge the dancing competition. Father Duffy presented the prizes to Mr. and Miss O’Neill.

The music was supplied by Herdman’s orchestra. A very dainty supper was served by the women members of the committee, who were congratulated on the success of the dance.
