LON CHANEY’S LATEST

All who remember “The Miracle Man” and the outstanding success it brought to Betty Compson and Lon Chaney, will be glad to know that these two players are again to appear together, in Mr. Chaney’s new picture, “The Big City.” In view of Chaney’s tremendous reputation as a character actor, it is strange to recall that at the beginning of his movie career, in the days when he played in one-reel comedies with Louise Fazenda, Max Ascher, and Gale Henry, he was a comedian, with no thought of serious roles. It was through Jeanie Macpherson, the scenario writer, that Chaney was given a tragic character role in one of her pictures, and so reached the turning point in his career.
