FRANKLIN AFFAIRS
Ex-students of the Pukekohe Technical High School on the occasion of their fifth annual reunion held a dance on Wednesday evening. There was an attendance of about 300, and dancing, to music by Hulme’s orchestra, occupied most of the evening. In a short address, Mr. W. F. J. Munro, principal of the school, expressed pleasure that the old students were fostering associations formed at the school by holding such annual reunions. He also expressed the thanks of the board of managers for the action of the ex-students in investing the monetary profits from their reunions to provide an annual prize for competition among pupils of the school. Messrs. I. Peterson, O. Pollock, W. Crosbie and A. Fallows were in charge of the dancing. * * * The Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce met last evening, Mr. H. J. Sumner presiding. The Government Statistician advised that he could supply to the chamber in the first week in N ovember each year statistics af the acreage in po'-atoes in the spring, but statistics as to the acreage in onions had not so far been collected. It was decided to request the statistician to have the figures in regard to onions also obtained, next year, and in succeeding years. It was decided to ask the divisional superintendent of railways to submit a request to the new general manager, Mr. H. H. Sterling, for the stopping of the South-bound Main Trunk express at Pukekohe each day.
