DRANK LINIMENT

OLD MAN’S DEATH OPEN VERDICT AT INQUEST Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. Solomon Rowe, aged 62, drank liniment, prescribed by a doctor for external application, and died from the effects in the Christchurch Hospital this morning. This was the substance of the verdict at the inquest held today by the coroner, Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M. Rowe, it was stated, had been for 20 years employed by the County Council. Lately he had been given three months’ notice of termination of his services. This made him depressed. After hearing the evidence the coroner found that the cause of death was poisoning, but that there was insufficient evidence to show whether it had been taken accidentally or intentionally.
