SHEEP DOG TRIALS
WHANGAREI EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING (From Our Own Correspondent) WIIANGAREI, To-day. The second event in the North Island championship sheep dog trials, the short head, was decided yesterday at: Kamo. The placed competitors were:—Mr J. Donnelly’s (Havelock North) Kins, 655 points, 1; Mr. H. IL Harris’s (Mataroa) General Haigh, 545, 2; Mr. P. McKenzie’s (Broadwood) Haigh, 54, 3; Mr. E. H. Milne’s (Kirikopuni) Tweed, 53, 4; Mr. J. E. White’s (Rangiahua) Mack, 525, 5. At a subsequent social, at which the results were anounced, Mr. W. Whyte said next year the association would have £I,OOO returning interst. It was? intended to keep this as a reserve, and the association would then have about £l5O a year more to expend. He offered to donate £SO to the reserve fund when four figures "were attained. The speaker mentioned that the first dog trials in the North Island were staged by Messrs. Hugh McDonald and the late Mr. Donald McDonald 39 years ago at Porangahau.
