AUCKLAND UNION

CANTERBURY GAME FIXED SECONDARY SCHOOLS MATCH At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union, presided over by Air. H. Frost, last evening, confirmation of August 4 as the date for the match with Auckland at Christchurch was received from the Canterbury Union. It was mentioned in the letter that the Southern union was quite agreeable to the game being a Ranfurly Shield match, providing Canterbury was still “minding” the shield at the time of the game. Thames confirmed September 15 as the date for its representative match with Auckland, at Auckland. Mr. S. Kronfeld, manager of the Auckland representative team that visited Waikato last Alonday, reported on the trip. He considered that everything possible for the entertainment of the team had been done by the hosts at Hamilton. The ground had been greatly improved, and the record gate of £290 had been taken. Assurances of loyalty to Auckland were conveyed from the Thames Union by the chairman of the Auckland union, Air. H. Frost, who had opened the new Rhodes Park at Thames last Alonday. “The ground is quite centrally situated,” said Air. Frost, “and enthusiasm is high. I should estimate the attendance on Alonday as at least 1,000, and the gate was £SO. In the evening, at a dinner given by the Thames Union, representatives of the various subunions were present, and gratitude was expressed for all that the Auckland Union had done to aid Thames/’ Endorsement of all that Air. Frost had said was expressed in a letter received from Mr. F. Aitken, manager of the Ponsonby team that had travelled to Thames on the day mentioned. Air. V. R. Aieredith, sole selector for the union, was empowered to appoint an assistant, and Air. S. Cleal was approved for the position, his duties to be the selection of teams other than A teams. The chairman reported that the SS/r sch ools' match between Auckland Grammar School and Kind's College would be played at the Grammar ground on June 23. matches for Saturday day ol i°eliff- are the flxtures for Saturhun?i°Nn 1 T de 3~ Man vf au v - OneSity J Edln e^r>fWo P T S 3 n pL., V Mr U TT Colle S' e Rifles v.
