Special arrangements were made, as before, by the Eastern Extension Telegraph Company, to push the result of the Derby through as quickly as possible. The times of transmission to the various countries were: Egypt and South Africa, five seconds; India and South America, eignt seconds; Straits Settlements, 20 seconds; Australia, 30 seconds; New Zealand, 37 seconds; and China, 60 seconds.
