Prime Minister Will be Opposed
LABOUR IN KAIPARA (Special to THE SUN) DARGAVILLE, To-day. The Prime Minister, the Right Hon. J. G. Coates, will be opposed in Kaipara at the general elections by a Labour candidate, Mr. James G. Barclay, farmer, of Pukehuia. Mr. Barclay is a director of the Nor* them Wairoa Co-operative Dairy Company, a member of the Hobson Electric Power Board, and president of the Kai~>ara branch of the Labour Party. MARSDEN HAS FOUR TICKETS WHANGAREI, To-day. It is expected that four candidates will go to the poll in the Marsden electorate. In addition to Mr. W. Jones, tho sitting Reform member, Mr. A. J. Murdoch will contest the seat in the interests of the United Party, and Mr. A. 11. Curtis, of Whangarei, will stand as an independent. Labour’s nominee has not yet been chosen, but the name of Mr. W. H. Chetham, farmer, is sug~gested. INTEREST IN WAIKATO HAMILTON. To-day. Reform interests in the Waikato have been given a decided fillip as a result the recent visits of the Prim" Minister and Mr. Downie Stewart. A meeting of Reform Party officials and supporters will be held at Tamahere on Friday evening, when delegates wili be elected to attend the conference at Morrinsville, when the Reform canc I #- dates will be selected. BALLOT IN SOUTH Press Association DUNEDIN, To-day. ! A ballot will be taken among Reform supporters to decide whether Mr. J. I Ritchie, chairman of the Vincent I County Council, or Mr. Charles Todd, will carry the party ticket for the Otago Central seat, a new electorate created | by the revision of boundaries.
