AUCKLAND MUSEUM
MT. ALBERT’S ALLOCATION “COUNCIL HAD NO SAY” “It seems to me that the Auckland City Council goes into these things on its own, and I for one am not going to be dragged at the City Council’s tail,’* said Mr. A. G. Buckley at last evening’s meeting of the Mount Albert Borough Council when a letter was read from the Auckland City Council suggesting an allocation of «£ 300 in connection with the Auckland Institute and Museum. Mr. Buckley stated that the Mount Albert Council had no say in the erection of the building. After further discussion among the councillors, the question was referred to the Finance and Legal Committee with power to act.
MANUREWA’S SUPPORT
As the result of a visit by Mr. Vaile and the curator of the Auckland Museum to the Manurewa Town Board meeting last evening, it was unanimously decided that the board would support legislation compelling the local bodies named in the schedule to make a yearly contribution of a sum not exceeding £6,000. Mr. Vaile said that Mount Albert, Mount Eden and One Tree Hill local bodies had approved of the scheme.
