MINING NEWS

MAORI LAND.—The secretary of the Maoriland Mine has returned from a visit to the mine at Waitekauri. He reports that the contractors are making good progress driving south on the reef in No. 4 level, 150 tons of ore being taken out and paddocked. The battery was also inspected, and it is estimated that it would take two to three week's work to place it in running order.
