IN THE MARKET PLACE

QUIET TRADING CHEAPER EGGS Quiet trading is registered in the City Marts. Fruit is moving out slowly. Vegetables meet with a steady housewives’ demand. Eggs continue to record a downward tendency. The Maunganui, from Sydney to-day, brought a limited consignment of mandarins, lemons and grapes. Local fruit is meeting with a quiet sale, with little movement in the market. In the field and garden produce section citron melons, celery and lettuces are specially heavily supplied. Regular consignments of vegetables continue to come forward from the southern portion of the island, although in greatly decreased quantities. Tauranga is supplying the bulk of the kumeras. Eggs are still falling in price, and lower values are recorded to-day. Butter meets with a steady sale at unchanged prices.
