(United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian Press Association)

Recd. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. A feature of the case in which Mrs. Pace is charged with murdering her husband was the reading of the prisoner’s statement to the police. Mrs. Pace said the marriage was unhappy, owing to her husband’s jealous cruelty. “From the first day he beat me. When in a temper he has beaten me occasionally throughout the 17 years of our married life. The last time he thrashed me was with a walkingstick, just before my baby was horn.” Allegations regarding the husband and a girl of 12 were not read. The names of a number of women were also kept secret.
