It was an “Evening Standard” representative, who applied to discover what 3ort of film Adonis Mary was seeking to make love to her on the screen, Mary thought he was actually applying for the job, and said: “What’s your height?” The reply was: “sft 9iin.” Mary said: “Half an inch too short. How old are you?” The reply was: “Thirty-two.” Said Mary: “My dear man, you are rapidly heading toward senility. You are far too old.” She then surveyed him and said: “Your shoulders droop. My lover must be athletic, with muscles showing under his coat iu order that boys and girls may admire him. He mustn’t be a pretty boy, either. You would never be able to pick me up and run away. Anyhow, you’ve left one thing at home. That’s personality. You haven’t any! “No, you won’t do. Good-day. Mind you don’t trip over the other young heroes as you go out.”
