YOUNG FARMER KILLED
RABBIT-GUN EXPLODES FATALITY NEAR KAWAKAWA (From Our Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, To-day. A shooting accident occurred at Aramahoe, nine miles from Kawakawa, yesterday morning, as a result of which Mr. George Johnstone, aged 21 years, died in the Kawakawa Hospital last night. Mr. Johnstone, who is a farmer, was taking the cream from the house to the collecting stand, and had a gun with him in the hope of securing a rabbit. While placing the cans on the stand he dislodged the gun which exploded, and he received the full charge in the abdomen. He was found by a Maori and was taken to the hospital, where he died. Some nine years ago Aramohoe was the scene of a double murder, when an old couple were shot by an assailant, who was never caught.
