WIN FOR MOTORISTS

COUNTY CAUGHT IN OWN TRAP RACE-DAY PROSECUTIONS Press Association HASTINGS, Thursday. On the occasion, of the races at Napier in March last, a trap was set for motorists on the Pakowhai Road by the County Council. The cases were heard before Mr. H. A.. Young,. S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, when seven motorists were charged with dangerous driving. After hearing the evidence for the prosecution the magistrate said he did not think that defendants had been given a chance. The cases had not been heard until two months after the happening. He did not think the trap described was reliable. The men should have had stop watches. Costs amounting to £1 Is were allowed against the county in each case where .the defendant was represented by counsel.
