MEMORIAL CLOCK
NORTH SHORE APPRECIATION NEW DESIGN ACCEPTED A handsome four-faced clock, topping a slender column will in about three months, stand at Devonport as a memorial to the services of the Hon. E. W. Alison, M.L.C. A new design by Mr. Roy Lippincott, submitted by Mr. W. Coltman has been accepted by the committee which raised £325 for the memorial. Standing 30ft high, the clock will be erected on the newly-formed foreshore and it will face up the centre of Victoria Road Another design was previously accepted by the committee, but it was objected to as an obstruction to traffic. The new clock will be eight feet higher than the first design, and it will cost £425, £IOO more than the other. The column will rise from a. decorative base 10ft square and the shaft itself will be 18in square. The handsome clock, which will have to be imported, will have four ornamental faces, and it will be worked by electricity. The work will probably be complete in three months.
