Quiet Tone on ’Change
STRONG DEMAND FOR BANKS A QUIET tone was registered on ’Change this morning with no business recorded at the early call. Only one sale was recorded at mid-day.
Banks continue to meet with a steady demand on a firm market. Nationals of N.Z. are in particularly strong tone, buyers at £7 5s failing to draw sellers. Insurances are also firm, with every trpnd upward. New Zealands were dea 11 with at 42s 3d. In miscellaneous section buyers of Colonial Sugars withdrew following a sale yesterday afternoon at £6l, leaving more offering at that figure. Hamilton Theatres are receiving more attention, the market having a decidedly upward movement, buyers advancing
to 16s this morning, with no sellers quoting. Mining continues depressed, with Waihis and Mt. Lyells the only scrip in good tone. Business at yesterday afternoon’s call. —On 'Change: Auckland Gas (paid), 23s 3d.
