MEETING NEXT MONTH MIXED BILL OF FARE Having secured the necessary permission to hold its annual meeting at Ellerslie on Saturday and Monday, June 30 and July 2, the Te Kuiti Racing Club is deserving of congratulation for the attractive programme it has placed at the disposal of owners and trainers. - Undoubtedly good fields will be the result, for seldom has a programme for Ellerslie been unsuccessful in securing excellent nomination and subsequently a prosperous gathering. With the prospects of a fine meeting in view sportsmen would, no doubt, like to peruse the card. In an endeavour to do justice to the occasion, the programme committee has given tfie Te Kuiti Handicap pride of place. This race, which is run over a mile, carriesstake money to the value of £4OO, so a field of a dozen at least should result. On the second day the Waitomo Handicap is the principal event, and stake money in this instance is £350, while the distance is similar to the above. Other events on the opening day’s card comprise the following: Hunters’ Hurdle Handicap, of £l5O, two miles: Awakino Handicap, of £2OO, seven furlongs; Pio Pio Hurdle Handicap, of £l5O, one and a-lialf miles; Otorohanga Steeplechase Handicap, of £200,. about three miles; Te Kumi Handicap, of £l5O, one mile; and the Stewards’ Handicap, of £250, six furlongs. The second day’s racing will commence with the King Country Hurdle Handicap, of £250, two miles, and will continue with the following, that is, with the exception of the Waitomo Handicap, which is mentioned above: Hangatiki Handicap, of £l5O, seven furlongs; Mokau Handicap, of £2OO, seven furlongs; Maniapoto Steeplechase Handicap, of £3OO, about three miles; Mairoa Handicap, of £l5O, one and aquarter miles; and the Farewell Handicap. of £250, six furlongs. Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for all events close with the secretary, Mr. W. S. Spence at 97 Shortland Street, Auckland, on Friday, Junq S, by 5 p.m. Handicaps are due to appear on Monday, June 18, while acceptances will close with the secretary at the above address on Friday, June 22, by 5 p.m. RACING FIXTURES June 2,4, 6—Auckland R.C.
