DANCING TO-NIGHT
An enjoyable time may be spent at the Dixieland Cabaret, Point Chevalier, to-night, when the usual mid-wgek gala night will be held, with dancing from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m. There will be numerous novelty turns and demonstrations of the latest ballroom dances by Miss Margaret O’Connor and Mr. Priestley. Special attention is drawn to the two big attractions which will be held at Dixieland. Th, first is a monster race night carnival on Saturday, with special cabaret items, and the other is a King’s Birthday ball on Monday, when a special long night will be held, with dancing from 8 p.m. to 1.30 a.m. Loretta Toung, who plays the daughter of Florence Vidor in that star’s new Paramount picture, ‘The Magnificent Flirt,” weighs only 97 pounds and is slightly more than 5 feet tall. She is called "Miss Mite” around the studios. In real life she is a sister of Sally Blane. suspended for one month for striking Fyffie, of the Tramways team, in the game at Onehunga last Saturday. Kendall, of Tramways, was reprimanded for dangerous play during the same game. WAIKATO TEAM SELECTED The following team will represent Waikato at Auckland on Monday next, against the Auckland representatives:—Goal, E. J. Schonau (Claudelands) ; right back, J McKinstry (Waihou), captain; left back, T. Dodds (Pukemiro Junction) ; right half, J. Gardner (Frankton Railways) ; centre half G. W. Deacon (Claudelands) ; left half, W. Moon (Railways) ; outside right, A. Blackwell (Huntly) ; centre forward. A. Moon (Frankton Railways) ; inside left D. Latimer (Pukemiro Junction) ; outside left, P. Hunter (Pukemiro Junction). Reserves: W. Kennedy (Hamilton Wanderers); A. Johnstone (Pukemiro ). « Officially travelling with the team will be:—Mr. Geo. Cox, secretary of the South Auckland Football Association ; Mr. F. Woodhall, team manager; Mr. A. J. Latimer, linesman. SOUTH AUCKLAND MATCHES At the meeting of the management committee of the South Auckland Football Association last evening entries for the Chatham Cup competition were received from Huntly, Huntly Thistle, and Pukemiro Junction. The New Zealand Football Association advised that they had accepted the challenge of Hawke’s Bay and North Auckland for the Brown Shield, and the committee fixed June 30 for the Hawke’s Bay match. Should the trophy be retained, July 28 is to be offered to North Auckland, subjet to the Auckland Football Association’s approval. A discussion on the appeal of the New Zealand Football Association for financial assistance resulted in a resolution being tabled that the receipts from all matches played in the South Auckland area on one day be handed over, details to be left to a future meeting. Fixtures for Saturday next are as follows:—Railway v. Wanderers, at Frankton (Mr. Cook); Glen Massey v. Huntly (Mr. Muir) ; Claudelands Rovers v. Pukemiro Junction (Mr. Cox) ; Pukemiro v. Thistle (Mr. Wallace).
