Women Need Never Be Old, Says Voronoff

Professor Serge Voronoff, who is paying a flying visit to England, had a boisterous welcome from 500 medical studens of Cambridge University when he lectured before the Medical Society on “Miracles of the Monkey Gland.” He explained his early experiments and showed on a screen pictures of the results of his operations. The lecturer declared that women need never grow old. Women who wanted to hunt and play games again with all the ardour and vitality of youth would be able to do so. “I am convinced,” he said, “that I am able to make people live for 140, perhaps 150 years, because of my experiments on animals. There are sheep on my farm which have reached the age of 20 years, equivalent to 140 years in a human being. I can do the same with human beings.” He described the remarkable effects produced in several cases. He gave an instance of a man who was in a mental home. His mind was a blank, yet within six months he resumed his employment as a pharmacist. A newspaper man, whose mind had failed, reported that he felt as he had done 20 years before. The grafts did not give such marked results in women as in men, but subsequent experiments had overcome that difficulty. He was now ready to declare his experiments an unqualified success.
